What is the Christmas Promise?
The Christmas Promise is an organization that sends “Santa Claus” to approximately 250 families. Each year teachers, church organizations, and social workers forward “letters to Santa” from disadvantaged children. Christmas Promise fulfills the wishes of these children by sending Santa to the home of the children on Christmas Eve. How can you help the Christmas Promise reach their goal? Donate money or volunteer to be a Santa or an Elf on Christmas Eve. They are also constantly looking for donations of new clothing articles, blankets, sleeping bags, wrapping paper, tape, toys, etc., and of course for Elves willing to give up a few hours of their time each Christmas Season to wrap all those gifts.
How does the Sacramento Diving Community Help?
Each year, a group of SCUBA Elves has gotten together for an evening of wrapping… no not the dance style… but wrapping Christmas present after Christmas present after Christmas present– no sleeping bags ~ I promiseJ.
I believe that as Clubs we have been doing this for 12+ years. So, once again this year 15 SCUBA elves will get together on Monday, December 8th from 6:00 PM to 9 PM and wrap presents all evening long. I have been asked to bring no more than 15 wrappers due to location size limitation. Also, they do not know yet if this year’s landlord will provide heat.. so come prepared and anticipate it to be cold… Feel free to bring a few snacks to share as well.
For those of you that plan on attending, please let me know no later than December 1st, 2014.
This year’s location is once again at 1428 Howe Avenue in Sacramento – as always, the entrance to their facility is on the backside of some store front.
Want to help but cannot make the wrapping party?
Feel free to collect cash, wrapping paper, Scotch tape, ribbons, etc. and give them to me prior to December 8th. I will gladly hand over the donations on the night of our wrapping party.
Thank you for taking some time out of your busy holiday season to come and wrap with me.
Have a Safe, Healthy, and Happy Holiday Season!
