Our Scuba Challenge 2019 event will take place on Saturday, June 8. The event location is Folsom Point, Folsom SRA. The Google maps link to this location is here.
This year we ask that all diving and non-diving participants sign up in advance so that we may better prepare for the event and the BBQ. The sign-up form is attached; please fill it in and send it to me before the sign-up deadline of June 3, 2019. BBQ is included if you are participating in the event as a diver. Please note that there is a $12 entry fee to Folsom Point.
This event involves teams of two divers performing skills and tasks underwater. The teams will be determined at the beach (diving with someone you have never dived with before is part of the challenge). The event starts at 9AM sharp. You may want to arrive early to find parking close by. The BBQ and the Award Ceremony will follow the diving event.
If you are participating as a diver, you will need to bring the following three items: (1) a compass, (2) an underwater writing slate, and (3) a surface marker. If you do not have any of these items, please send me a quick note to let me know. If you would like to brush up on your knowledge of underwater navigation, please find here an excellent quick refresher prepared by one of our members, Britt Junes.
All skill levels, especially beginners, are encouraged to participate. This event is a fun and relaxing way to practice your skills in calm waters.
Let’s go diving!
