It has come to my attention that many people didn’t realize that the Yahoo Group is more than just an email distribution list.  It is actually a website where you can change your email delivery settings, search message archives, view files that have been uploaded for private use of club members, add photos, take polls etc.  Many of you may not realize this because when you joined DDS, your email address was automatically added to the group and you just started getting emails.  

You can access the fully featured group site by clicking the link on the Main Menu to the left.  It is a private group so in order for you to access the features of the Group, you need to have a Yahoo ID and be a paid member. 

In order create your own Yahoo ID, go to any Yahoo page (www.yahoo.com or from right there on the Group page) and go to the Sign Up link (usually in the upper right hand corner) to create your own yahoo ID.  It will automatically create an email address for you but you dont have to use it.  Just use whatever email address you normally use as your Alternate Email.  Once your ID is created, sign in to Yahoo then go back to the Group page above and click on Join now.  Be sure to include your full name in the message to moderator and I’ll immediately approve you.  You will then be able to edit your membership for whatever email address you prefer to have messages sent to, choose the delivery frequency of messages (indvidual emails, daily digest, online viewing only).  You will also be able to search past message archives as well as view private club files such as the membership listing.

So now, when you hear people saying “It’s on the Yahoo Group” or “I’ll post it to the Yahoo Group”, you’ll know what they mean.  It’s more than just an email!
