Remembering Bill Houle
We are saddened by the loss of Bill Houle a few weeks ago on our annual Channel Islands trip. Bill and Blanca Houle joined Dolphin Divers of Sacramento in May, 2011.
A message from DDS President, Brad Freelove:
Dolphin membership:
By now, most of you have received several emails or phone calls regarding the loss of one of our own. Bill Houle passed away on our Channel Islands trip on July 24, 2011. Bill and his wife Blanca were newer members of the club having attended just a few events. During their time with us many members came to know them as friendly and fun loving folks. Memorial weekend was spent hearing their stories of life and travel and his new sport of diving. At the Picnic in the Park, Bill received a shirt from Jimmie Clements with a Smurf on it. Those of us at the Memorial weekend did mention to Bill that he reminded us of Papa Smurf……and Jimmie did the rest. At the Crab Feed, Bill and I talked about his work, his love of both Blanca and his son, and his excitement of the pending Channel Islands trip. I left at almost 11 pm that night leaving Bill and Blanca still on the dance floor.
While Bill is no longer with us, I will always remember the look in his eyes as he told his stories, held Blanca and spoke of his new friends at the dive club. I will miss him and what he brought to us all.
