American River Cleanup
In coordination with the American River Parkway Foundation, Dolphin Divers of Sacramento will be sponsoring a trash removal dive on the American River. We will be removing as much trash as we can from the river. On July 17, we will meet at the Lower Sunrise parking lot, gather up our gear, and start down the river. The goal is to remove cans, bottles, and other objects that do not belong in the river. Rafts will be supplied by the American River Raft Rental company. Divers can use tanks and/or freedive. We will need boat handlers as well as divers.
We will leave the Lower Sunrise parking area at 9 am. About 11 am we will haul out at the San Juan Rapids and take a short break. We should reach the River Bend access point, our final destination, sometime between 2 and 3 pm. You will need to bring along something to drink, eat, and whatever else you will need to make the trip. Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and your dive equipment will be necessary to have a fun trip.
Along with all the garbage that we find, we always find an assortment of sunglasses, wallets, GoPro cameras, and fishing equipment.
If you are looking for a unique diving day, come join us on the river. July 17 is the date, and the American River is the place.
More info to come as we get closer to the day.
