Great American River Cleanup

The American River runs right through our Sacramento neighborhoods but, unfortunately, not everyone takes proper care of this area. Tons of trash and debris is carelessly discarded in and along its banks every year. Please join us on Saturday, September 21, when we pitch in with volunteers from the American River Parkway Foundation to help clean up the river.
This year we are going to launch from the Sunrise Bridge
at 8:30 AM and dive for trash while we drift down the river to Riverbend (Goethe) Park. Only bring ONE tank, or you can snorkel if you prefer. If you don’t want to get in the water, or if you have non-diving family or friends that can participate, we will need help manning the rafts too. We will meet in the Sunrise Bridge parking lot on the South side of the river at 8:00 a.m. before getting in the boats. American River Recreation is graciously donating some rafts for us to use but you are also welcome to bring your own, or a kayak if you
prefer. This has always been a fun event and a good way to contribute to our community. Before the event we will leave some pickups atRiverbendPark so we can take all the gear back to the cars atSunrise. The rafts will be turned over to the raft company at Riverbend park, and they will also bring any divers back toSunrise on their buses that can’t ride back with the gear.
We need all the help we can get so bring your family and friends to join us on the river. E-mail or call one of us to let us know you are joining us and let us know if you can help with pickups or drivers from Riverbend before the event.
