San Francisco Day Hike
Saturday, Jun 2, join Debby and me for another fun day of adventure walking the paths of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. We will meet again at 8:00 at the Denny’s Restaurant in West Sacramento for breakfast and to form car pools. Then we will head for The Stow Lake parking lots in the middle of the park, near the Science and Art Museums, where we will start our walk. We have done this several times before when it has always been a fun time. We’ll walk past several of the gardens down to the beach. There we will enjoy lunch at the “Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant” before heading back to our parked cars. Along the trails leading down to the beach we will pass the rose gardens and the Dutch Windmill, surrounded by a Tulip garden.
The walk to the beach is a meandering downhill series of walkways with lots of things to see. We will walk back along a different route to enjoy more of the park, but the path back is all up hill. Not steep, but you will definitely feel it when we get back to our cars. We’ll try to stop by the 16 Avenue tile steps project while we are there. These are only about 5 blocks south of Golden Gate Park in Grand View Park. If you are joining us please let me know so that I can update you with any new information about the walk. Jack Millard.
