Help David Whiteside and me celebrate our birthdays next January at one of our favorite dive locations: The Revillagigedo Islands, also known as the Socorro Islands, of Mexico, aboard the M/V Valentina. The boat departs from San Jose Del Cabo, so they are only one time zone ahead of us (1 hour), Flights there and back are easy and affordable.
Dolphin SCUBA has booked the Valentina for our club members and they will take care of all the payments and signups. Both David and I have been there multiple times, and we are always ready to return. This is a trip for experienced divers, with at least 50 logged dives, who possess good buoyancy skills and are comfortable with open water diving. Some sites are along walls with bottoms below our dive limits. I STRONGLY recommend Nitrox Certification and use for all participants, but it is not required.
The Revillagigedo’s are best known for friendly Manta Rays that seem to delight in swimming through our bubbles. This is also one of the few places where close encounters with wild dolphins are common. On my trips there I have seen dolphins swim up to divers and I have been within inches of huge Mantas. I have also had close encounters with Whale Sharks, but they are not as common as the dolphins and mantas. Other common sightings include reef sharks and Hammerheads.
There are a limited number of spaces available and Dolphin SCUBA will fill the boat in a few months if we don’t fill it with club members. For more information you can contact me, or Dolphin SCUBA. To sign up please do it through Dolphin SCUBA, and let me know.
