Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest
Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest
When: Saturday, October 27th, 9:00 am
Where: Folsom Lake, Granite Bay (5% Launch Ramp
On October 27th Dolphin Divers of Sacramento will host an Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest. We will be meeting at Folsom Lake at 9 am on that Saturday, and the contest will start at 10 am. Contest ends at 11 am and we should be done with lunch and prizes by noon.
Contest rules:
- Bring your own pumpkin, carving tools, and diving equipment. Include a mesh bag to use underwater to contain your carving waste. You might want to bring along a weight to place inside the pumpkin. Pumpkins float. A weight inside the pumpkin will keep it on the bottom.
- You can cut out the top of the pumpkin and scoop out the pulp and seeds on the shore. Less mess in the water. But, you cannot start doing this until 10 am.
- You cannot draw on the pumpkins before you enter the water.
Starting at 10 am, all diving teams will have one hour to:
- Cut open the top of the pumpkin and scoop out the pulp and seeds.
- Get into your diving equipment and get into the water.
- Carve your pumpkin.
- Return to the starting area.
There will be prizes for:
1st place – Best overall looking pumpkin.
2nd place – Spookiest pumpkin.
3rd place – Nice try but not first or second place
Cost is $10 per dive team. Duplicate prizes for each member of the team. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
Let me know if you want to get involved.
